Boden Wins Again

Honestly two of my favourite outfits; both with the same Boden skirt - but in different prints. The animal print skirt paired with the knotty hem top does that 'fitted waist + wide top = magic a waist' thing so well. The navy & white print skirt just goes so nicely with the navy & white Breton top. And I'm lucky enough to have some necklaces in my wardrobe that just work.

Feels like... autumn?! Dark tights and long sleeves. Sigh. Well, we had a maximum of 16 degrees C yesterday. 

I do love this to though, with its knotty hem...

I don't do bracelets (annoy me when typing) and usually forget about earrings but maybe I should try harder when wearing this dress? What would you add?

You know what I'm like with statement necklaces, right? Well, I'm talking to a colleague about an incident management exercise (admittedly, not one of the most exciting subjects) and she suddenly blurts out "does this necklace not get in the way?" I guess it kind of does. Especially when you're wearing a fitted coat. But obviously very handy as a distractor. Note to self: wear when having to present something I have no clue about!

April Weather Outfits

We all love a cliche, right? Like April weather. Warm and "oh, Spring is here" one minute and cold, wet and windy the next. 

Which is why last week's outfits were a bit of a mixed bag.

Kind of an "in between" outfit: in between weather demands layers and as I can't do heels anymore but this skirt doesn't work with flats, 

so I found my "highest non-heels".

Trumpet sleeves seem to be everywhere at the moment. I remember them from the 90s and loved them back then. Of course, I didn't have a job then or normal grown up life to contend with. Half the day yesterday was spent with holding them up and away out of water/spills etc in the work kitchen when making tea or flicking them away when typing. Do you have items of clothing that you love but that are totally unpractical for daily life? #ilikepractical

Cold Spring

Colder weather meant back to warmer pieces, though I kept it looking and feeling transitional - maybe with the exception of the Topshop skirt outfit. Oh, and a new item: the sweatshirt in the last outfit is actually teen size. Totally in love with it and will see what else it goes with!

Don't like that pic but it was the best out of a bad bunch. And I did want to show you my lovely pop of colour necklace...

It's still freezing (especially in the morning) and yesterday it was chucking it down but I'm continuing with the spring theme! I don't wear this dress often enough, very simply because it is done up on the side with tiny pearl buttons. Need help with that and it takes ages, so this is an outfit that requires planning and assistance. #firstworldproblems

Late Winter Favourites

More old favourites. Reasons? 

1. I don't have time in the morning to faff around and decide on an outfit and therefore tend to default to a few trusty combinations.

2. I'm trying to be good and not spend money, buying new stuff. 

3. I'm trying to wear the stuff I own - and to cull the pieces I don't wear.

 ...ok, I *am* trying to change it up for you guys...

I still love this Boden print. I also regret not having bought more of their gorgeous floral prints one spring summer season - think it was SS14? I gotta confess: not feeling the love at the moment for their prints. Normally I buy at least this skirt in an update but nothing that excites me AW16 or SS17. Spring, Where Art Though?

I'm getting a tad bored (and I'm sure you feel the same way) of talking about the weather every week in my bid to narrate my outfit choices. I've been expecting to move onto spring/summer outfits and been saying every week that, surely, this should be the last week of opaque tights and warm, layered knits. And every week so far I've been wrong. The fact that I managed to sneak in two warm weather outfits last week give hope but the week following that (i.e. this week) went ridiculously cold again. I mean, we had some snow yesterday. A few days from May. I give up.

The Boots are Back

Coming back from my week in Germany, it really felt like winter has arrived. (Can I just add here that when I told my mum we had landed safely, she told me that she was lying on a sunlounger in her bathing suit as it was still hitting mid 20s in the sun. You try and not be depressed after that!) Anyway, with wet and cold weather all around me in the morning as I wait for the train, I moved into one of my pairs pf knee-high boots. You'll soon be sick of the sight of them...

The mornings have been quite damp and cold at times but so far I've been able to cope with a slightly warmer coat. Once it gets too cold for nude/no tights and the black opaques have to come out, most of my summer skirts and dresses will have to go into hibernation - I'm therefore trying to get as much out of them as I can now!
