Old Jacket, New Favourite

Outfit roundup a on Tuesday?! Due to a couple of busy weeks and then having been on holiday, I'm totally behind. My week in Germany involved a lot of lounging around and little sartorial action, so below the outfits from a couple of weeks ago. If I can find the time tomorrow, I'll get us up to date.

A couple of future faves: My old, yet newly discovered tweed jacket is finally being worn - and I really love it. (Do you do that? Discover items in your wardrobe that you almost discarded and fall in love with them?) Oh, and something actually new: that cosy Tesco jumper is going to get some repeat wears this winter!

I thought this outfit might be a pattern too far but I think it actually worked - and I really enjoyed wearing it! The jacket must be about 15 years old and almost every year I've held it up and thought "need to get rid of this, I never wear it" - and then hung it straight back into my wardrobe. It's a tricky one, as it's quite warm but not warm enough for proper outer wear (plus, it has elbow length sleeves and is cropped). But I thought I'd start wearing it kind of like a cardigan or blazer and voilĂ , it's now officially a keeper!

Jacket: River Island

I normally don't do outerwear shots.
1. I do my ootd pic when I get home in the evening, after I dropped bag and coat downstairs and before I get changed into something that doesn't mind if I crawl around the floor building lego.
2. I usually wear the same coat all season: a warm one in winter, a thinner one when it's warmer. Both hooded and waterproof, as I commute by train and walk bits in between. I also can't be bothered carrying an umbrella. (God knows why I have a wardrobe full of coats...) This was a day though when it was cold with no chance of rain so I dug out my classic grey coat - and I thought I'd share this. :)
Jumper: Tesco
Jeans: Next
Trainers & coat: Zara
Scarf: C&A

This is what happens when I take my 'outfit of the day' photo after coming home (no way would I have time to do this in the morning!). Little M will insist in being in a couple of pics and then we have to pose so that he "wears" my clothes. I have reams of those pics.
Rubbish quality - but I can't quite get myself to delete them.
Jumper: Zara
Skirt: Mango
Trainers: Kurt Geiger

At the weekend you'll usually find me in jeans, mainly because I will either be cleaning/tidying/pottering or climbing around hills/playgrounds/rocks. On Saturday I dragged Mr G and little M to Cheshire Oaks and (also due to the wet weather: nothing worse than jeans soaking up rain water) ended up in a dress. :)
By the way: check out here what Mulberry had in stock!

Autumn Gold

Autumn is well and truly here and I am digging into my wardrobe, finding some items I had forgotten throughout the summer months. Last weekend I moved my 'purely summer' items into a wardrobe in little M's room. Do you move your seasonal items around or do you have an 'all year round' wardrobe?

Tesco print top, Boden pencil skirt
I like it when this happens: you pull out an item of clothing and try to find something that works with it - and come across another item that really makes the colour "shine": the rich blue of the skirt (sorry for the poor pic) picks out the floral print and harmonises nicely with the gold on the top. (Spot the wonky door frame next to me - that's what happens if you rush your outfit pic.)
Top: Florence & Fred at Tesco

Longsleeve top worn underneath: &OtherStories

Boots: Zara

I'm sure you've seen this one before - am I running out of ideas..?
Well, the skirt is one of those items I pull out of my wardrobe, when I'm in a rush and I need to feel happy with what I'm wearing that day. How could you not smile with that print?!

What I Wore - Roundup

Somebody asked me why I stopped doing outfit posts. Actually, I am still doing them. I just haven't published them on here but only via my Instagram, Facebook or Twitter accounts.

So I thought, I'll do a quick roundup of the last few and try to do a weekly one going forward.

Golden Casual

I decided that using the title "what I wore today" is getting a bit too monotonous. I shall continue to tag the posts accordingly but now come up with descriptive and/or entertaining titles. No pressure then.

As in many offices, ours operates a "dress down Friday" policy, i.e. even the non-creative/IT/... are allowed to wear denim on said day. I am not hugely into wearing jeans, probably because I practically used to live in them and now find this option a bit... dull.

Please don't shout at me.

I know, there are skinnies, bellbottoms, bootcut, boyfriend, straightleg... And then there are all the different washes: used, dark indigo, black, white, coloured and (let's not forget since I am German) stonewashed. Of course I do wear jeans, I probably have about 10 pairs but as a general rule, I don't tend to enjoy outfits containing an ordinary pair of jeans as much as those containing other items of clothing.

Anyway, I thought I'd use the denim-carte-blanche as a sign to dig out my Warehouse frayed denim skirt, which I must have had in my wardrobe for about 6 years.  It's still pretty cold and windy out there, so I am wearing some trusty 40 deniers and my boots as well as a thin, longsleeved top. I paired the skirt with a top from Tesco (just love that print and a bit of a bargain at £12) and a H&M jumper made up of, what can only be described as a golden flecked knit.
