No Prints Allowed

Apologies for the rather dark pics I improved on my video quality but I'm still on my iPhone 6, which isn't great in low light. It is winter, after all.

Anyway, this week's challenge was to still abstain from print separates, so no trusty Boden pencil skirts or Zara tops. Instead it's all about block colours - ok, including black, so uni coloured separates.

New week, new challenge. Last week was all about the print dress, so I thought I'd try a week without (!) any prints at all. Yikes!
Top: Primark
Skirt and boots: Zara

I'm continuing my "separates without print" challenge by adding texture again: crushed velvet in the skirt and a shiny mock-croc belt. Probably slightly over-coordinated for me with matching(ish) bag, shoes and belt! (The belt is probably over a decade old and from Jesire.)
Top: Karen Millen
Skirt: Zara
Jacket: Warehouse
Belt: Jesire
Boots: Office
Bag: VVA

Separates without print - the challenge continues! Textures help massively though and pairing pleather with this woven fabric gives a bit of interest. :)
Top: Mango
Skirt: Warehouse
Boots: Zara
Necklace: Accessorize

Another day of "no print separates". The fact that I was running late meant no time to find a necklace. I actually liked this outfit but it does look awfully plain and dark here...
Jumper and boots: Zara
Skirt: Mango

Yesterday's casual Friday outfit. Still no print separates but I added some texture again, this time with this Zara jacket.

Jeans: Paige
Jacket: Zara
Boots: Hallhuber

New Zara Favourites

I currently keep finding new Zara stuff I love (so I am also trying not too keep browsing them too often!) but I did take the plunge on the three below:
* an oversized shirt (dress?!)
* a pair of feathered trainers (!)   and
* an embellished sweatshirt with bishop sleeves.
Two of them definitely out of my comfort zone, and you know what? I loved wearing them!

Not something I've worn before, that shirt (dress?!) is huge on me, but I totally fell in love with it! (Mr G actually joked whether I was off painting - and I don't think he's far off.) This kind of blush pink is turning into my favourite hue this season.
Shirt, shoes & necklace: Zara
Jeans: Next

I was wondering whether the stripes AND the pattern AND the multi coloured jacket AND the necklace were a bit much but I do like it. :)
Top & skirt: Boden
Jacket: Zara
Trainers: Converse
Necklace: Aarikka

I absolutely love my new (and current) Zara jumper! It's comfy and cosy, which is perfect for the colder months to come,
but has enough detail to make my outfit. :)
Jumper: Zara
Skirt: BCBG MAXAZRIA
Trainers: Kurt Geiger

Fluffy jumper and summer skirt. And that necklace. I love the mix of zesty and pastel colours.
Jumper: Primark
Skirt: Miss Selfridge
Trainers: Converse
Necklace: Oliver Bonas

Goodbye Summer

The weather is changing and I am moving away from 'summer' and into 'transitional': more layers, more knit. Soon enough I will have to try and remember what I wore last year - especially when the sheer tights go away!

Primark eyelash jumper, warehouse midi skirt, stella and dot necklace
Fluffy jumper weather is here! Blues and greens always work and this necklace kind of does the work for me.
It was a bit too wet for converse, otherwise I'd have thrown in my blue hi-tops for an additional blue hue.
Jumper: Primark
Skirt: Warehouse
Trainers: Kurt Geiger
Necklace: Stella & Dot

Zara embroidered jumper and stripy jeans
Can you call it a clash even if it kind of goes? Because I think that describes these patterns out together... (Because I was a complete numpty and went over on my ankle again, I wanted to wear something to hide my bandage, thus a bit casual for a weekday.)
Jumper & jeans: Zara
Trainers: Converse

Zara denim dress and Stella and Dot Ezra necklace
A couple of days behind as I was off and then working from home for little M's start into school life. 😂 If I was drinking, I'd say "hand me the wine." Anyway... Summer seems to be on it's way out and every outfit in sheer tights may well be the last one before the opaques have to come out. I thought we were promised an Indian summer???
Dress: Zara
Boots: Marks and Spencer
Necklace: Stella & Dot

Topshop top and jacquard skirt
Feeling pretty meh about this outfit as it's just too autumnal. I'm not ready for summer to be over!

Cardigan: Boden
Boots: Marks and Spencer

One Week of Summer

We had some proper summer weather last week - hence the proper summer outfits! (Can't believe that I'm writing this on a day when I've been wearing opaques again - last week might have been all the summer we got...)

Feels like summer! This dress is at least 6 years old (handy how little M's birth provides a point of reference) and I dig it out every year - though every year I then ponder on which necklace to wear with it and end up with none because I think it just doesn't go...
Dress: Primark
Shoes: Zara

Nothing particularly wrong with this outfit. But nothing great either. Meh. The top half needs something more punchy to stand a chance against the skirt...
T-shirt: Warehouse
Skirt and cardigan: Boden
Necklace: Stella & Dot
Trainers: Converse

Did you enjoy the summer weather yesterday? No tights! T-shirt! Pop of colour! I certainly did! Shame that you have to wrap up when going into an air conditioned office but the sunshine cheered me up enormously!
T-shirt: & Other Stories
Skirt: Zara
Shoes: Kurt Geiger
Necklace: Aarikka

It'll be hot, they said. It'll feel like summer, they said. Better put on something light, I thought. Out comes the dress that I can't wear with tights. Shame the office was air conditioned so much, we were all freezing...
Dress: Vivienne Westwood
Shoes: Zara
Necklace: Stella & Dot

Cold Spring

Colder weather meant back to warmer pieces, though I kept it looking and feeling transitional - maybe with the exception of the Topshop skirt outfit. Oh, and a new item: the sweatshirt in the last outfit is actually teen size. Totally in love with it and will see what else it goes with!

Boden Richmond Skirt with Mango Top
Don't like that pic but it was the best out of a bad bunch. And I did want to show you my lovely pop of colour necklace...
Top: Mango
Skirt: Boden
Boots: Zara
Necklace: Warehouse

Intropia dress Marks and Specer boots Mulberry belt
It's still freezing (especially in the morning) and yesterday it was chucking it down but I'm continuing with the spring theme! I don't wear this dress often enough, very simply because it is done up on the side with tiny pearl buttons. Need help with that and it takes ages, so this is an outfit that requires planning and assistance. #firstworldproblems
Dress: (Hoss) Intropia
Top worn underneath: Topshop
Cardigan: H&M
Boots: M&S
Belt: Mulberry

Topshop mini skirt and jacket
Spring seems to be taking a break - so my spring wardrobe is too: back in opaques...
Top: Zara
Skirt & jacket: Topshop
Necklace: Stella & Dot

Boden Trellis print skirt and fluffy jumper
Semi-spring outfit - just add a fluffy jumper for warmth (and yes: back in the opaques).
Top: Primark
Skirt: Boden
Necklace: Marni @ H&M

Next worn skinny jeans, Zara embroidered sweatshirt
This is my 'casual Friday' outfit from last week. After long rejecting the notion of buying 'jeans with holes' I love those now. Unfortunately I also ripped one of the artfully worn down sections, so that there is now in fact a hole. #yournotgoingoutlikethat
Sweatshirt: Zara
Jeans: Next
Boots: no idea...

Outfits Out Of Sync

I'm completely out of sync and should have posted these yesterday. Christmas kinda does that. "What day is it? How long have I been off? Are the shops open?" You could swear we've been cut off from civilisation for weeks. Anyway, below a couple of outfits from my last working week of 2016.

Zara Dress Warehouse jacket
I love the overlay on the top of this dress but ended up wearing the jacket over it pretty much all day because I was just too cold... I did get a lot of "oooh, very Chanel!" on the jacket though. :)
Dress & necklace: ZARA
Jacket: Warehouse

Primark dress
Best pic out of a very bad bunch - so doesn't do this dress any justice! It's a total Vivienne Westwood rip off - and I love it (ssshhhh...)
Dress: Primark
Top worn underneath: Next
Necklace: Topshop

We All Have Angles

My outfits posts on Facebook or Instagram are usually just a quick picture with a random sentence and a reference to where I bought what - if I can remember and/or haven't cut out any labels. Sometimes I say what I specifically like or dislike about an outfit but it's not often that I go off on some sort of monologue. Well, last week was a bit different.

Whilst the first couple of outfits were... standard posts...

Promark Dress Boden Cardigan Zara Shoes
Dress: Primark
Cardigan: Boden
Shoes: Zara

Warehouse Top Zara Skirt
Top: Warehouse
Skirt: Zara
Trainers: Converse

And then I kind of went off on one with this one:

Warehouse skirt H&M top
"I don't edit my pictures, mainly because I don't have the time and can't be bothered.
But I do take a few (usually around 5-8) and then pick the one I like best. It's quite frustrating when you delete all the ones that are a definite "no" and you're left with - more nos. (That's what I usually mean by "best out of a bad bunch".)
What's my point?
I don't like this picture. I think my legs look craggy and skinny and pale, my skin blotchy and my midriff dumpy.
And then I thought "how bloody stupid!": If I look like this on a picture then I'm bound to look like this for some of the day. I walk around all day looking like this and I can't chose the angle that people see me at.
And if I didn't say anything here, people might not even notice those flaws. Or they might see others where I didn't even perceive any.
It doesn't matter. It's fine.
And if you read this far and you know what I mean, then just let me tell you this: you are fine! You look great! We all have our angles!
Xx"

By the way:
Top: H&M
Skirt: Warehouse
Shoes: Kurt Geiger
Necklace: Dorothy Perkins

And then followed it up with this one:

Topshop Top Next Jeans
"Ok, after yesterday's rant over bad angles and all that I took about 8 pics. Not the worst ever lot but most of them like the one on the left: I look like I need the loo, my haircut looks stupid, my resting face grumpy...
And then there's one where I happen to look out the window because I heard something and that accidental one is the best out of the bunch.
>>> be less self conscious, try less hard and it'll probably work out for the better! #weallhaveangles"

Outfit Catchup: Bumper Issue

As I was between jobs and off for almost a month, I completely fell out of my outfit posting routine. Partially because I simply didn't really wear anything particularly interesting but also because I generally slacked in re. to keeping my blog up to date during this time. One the upside, I sorted through all of little M's clothes, some of my stuff and managed to get a fair bit of tidying done.

Anyway, I started my new job and have not caught up yet, so this is what I've snapped so far this year.

Last Days Of Formal

I have now finished my job for this year and last week I was only in the office for a couple of days, hence only two dressy outfits. I am starting a new job mid January so until then things are going to be rather casual - so I'm not sure whether I'll bother sharing the outfits on here. We shall see...
